FAQ

What can I anticipate from my consultant

Within a few days of selecting your consultant, you can expect to hear back. They will often ask about your company's mission, goals and products. Next, they'll provide a proposal describing the scope and estimated time frame, fees, deliverables or milestones, as well as an estimate of costs.

If all goes according to plan, the two sides will sign a written deal. The type of relationship between the parties (e.g., employee-employer, independent contractor-employer) will affect the terms of any contract.

If all goes according to plan, the consultant will begin working immediately. You will have access both to your documents and internal resources and the consultant's skills and knowledge.

Don't think that consultants are experts. It takes practice and hard work to become an expert in the field you are consulting. Your consultant should not assume that they know everything about you business.

How much does it take to hire a consultant

Many factors go into determining how much it costs to hire a consultant. These factors include:

  1. Project size
  2. Time frame
  3. Scope of work
  4. Fees
  5. Deliverables
  6. Other considerations like experience level, geographical location, etc.

Do I have to pay tax on consulting income

Yes, you will need to pay tax on your consultancy profits. This amount will depend on how much you earn each year.

If you're self employed, you can deduct expenses beyond your salary.

But you won't be able to deduct interest payments on loans, vehicle depreciation, or the cost of equipment.

If you earn less than PS10,000 per year, 25% can be claimed back.

But even if you're earning more than this threshold, you might still be taxed depending on whether you're classed as a contractor or employee.

Employees are generally taxed through PAYE (pay as you earn) and contractors through VAT.

How To

How can you find the best consultants?

First, ask yourself what kind of consultant you are looking for. You should know exactly what your expectations are before you start searching for someone. Before you start looking for a consultant, make a list. This might include skills such as project management, professional expertise, communication, availability, and technical skills. Once you have identified your requirements, you might consider asking friends and colleagues to recommend you. Ask them if they had any bad experiences with consultants previously and see how their recommendations compare with yours. If you don't have any recommendations, try doing some research online. You can post reviews on your previous work experiences on many websites like LinkedIn, Facebook and Angie's List. Consider the ratings and comments of other candidates and use these data to start your search for potential candidates. Once you have a short list of candidates, contact them to arrange an interview. In the interview, discuss your needs and ask them for their suggestions on how you can achieve them. It doesn’t matter who recommended them to you, just make sure they understand what you are trying to achieve and how they can help.
